A powerlifting, coffee drinking, social justice advocate.
Hi! My name is Nikki Brown. I love science fiction, being a dog mom, traveling to new places and sampling all of the delicious food Tucson has to offer! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Arizona and I’ve been practicing for the past 11 years.
I fell in love with the field of Social Work when I discovered that the profession’s core values perfectly mirror my own beliefs. What this means is I show up with the mindset that every individual deserves dignity and respect; life is meant to be lived with intention and integrity; human relationships and connection are essential to healing; and exploring your identity and/or how you identify is key to personal growth. What I will never do is work from the premise that you are sick, diseased or in need of a cure.
Therapy with me can be brief (only a few sessions) or long-term, depending on your needs and strengths. I believe that feedback, humor and a little gentle confrontation is essential in the therapeutic relationship, and I will also teach you the skills you need to challenge negative thinking and change behaviors.
I can say with confidence that therapy and being a therapist is my passion, and I’m always excited to help people reach their goals and uncover their strengths. I look forward to working with y
treatment approach
Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing is a body-centered approach to treating trauma that, rather than focusing only on thoughts or emotions associated with a traumatic event, expands to include the natural bodily (somatic) responses to increase one’s capacity to regulate their nervous system.
I am an Intermediate SE student/practitioner-in-training under the instruction of Mashid Hager, SEP. Expected certification completion date 2024.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and behavior, and teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. It combines cognitive therapy (examining the things you think) and behavior therapy (examining the things you do)
Solution Focused Brief (SFBT)
Solution focused brief therapy is based on solution-building rather than problem-solving. Although it acknowledges present problems and past causes, it mainly explores an individual’s current resources and future hopes – helping them to look forward and use their own strengths to achieve their goals..
Person Centered
Person centered therapy is based on the belief that every human being strives for and has the capacity to fulfill their potential.
